Highlights: Colonel Tom Hewes, USMC (ret.) enlisted in the naval service at the age of seventeen, serving as an enlisted man for five and a half years and a Naval Aviation Cadet for another year and a half prior to being commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He is a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars, and has held a variety of staff and operational assignments, including Executive Officer of The Basic School, and squadron and aircraft group command. He is a distinguished graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College. His personal decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with the numeral thirty one. He retired with nearly thirty-one years of active service. |
