Transitioned to F3H Demon, made 2 WestPac cruises aboard USS Ticonderoga with 300+ carrier landings. Line School at Monterey. Back to Miramar as instructor in F3, F4 and F-10 (F3D Skyknight). 2 combat cruises with VF-21 aboard USS Midway and USS Coral Sea. 175 combat missions and another 200 traps. LCDR, DFC, 13 Air Medals, NCM,VN Cross of Gallantry. Submitted resignation letter & as a Regular, got 1-year hold, assigned as acceptance test pilot at F-4 plant in St. Louis. Joined TWA for 30-year career. |
