Highlights: Enlisted in USMC on 18th birthday; completed boot and ITR training; dischanged and became Naval Aviation Cadet in Feb of 1958; received wings and commission as 2nd Lt in Sept of 1959; assigned to 3rd MAG in Santa Anna CA; attended Survival School, ABC School, designated HAC; participated in Operation Dominic I including Swordfish off coast of San Diego (believe it was USS Monticello LSD) & Fishbowl (USS Iow Jima off Johnson Atoll in 1962); Santa Anna LTA facility 1959-62; flew H-34s in HMR 361 and various other squadrons; released active duty in Aug 1962 and was active reserve helicopter pilot at Glenview Naval Air Station until retirement in 1967. |
