Highlights: First deployment to Med with VF1B on Midway,1947. Finished active duty as Operations Officer and Navigator on USS Dyess, DDR 880. Terminated active duty as LT, USN on 30 June 1959. Served in Ready Reserve in Aviation Intelligence and promoted to LCDR, USNR. Retired on 30 June 1967. Because I am old as dirt I was unable to find an appropriate 'commissioning from' and chose AOC - That is incorrect. I enlisted in the Naval Aviation Cadet program while a senior in high school (4-22-1943) and after being delayed for a year in the V12A program at Bowling Green State Uni and other intermediate stops I went to Chapel Hill Pre-flight and finally into flight training in the N2S Steerman at Glenview, then Corpus and Pensacola. |
